Testing the GENES
I recently (2016) did the Genetic testing with a couple heifers, and the
results just didn't match what the reality was. Igenity said the 2 heifers I
had tested for Stayability in the herd was average (5) -so 50% of the time
should stay in my herd procuding till they are 6 years old. The reality is
their mother (same dam) is still producing at at 11 years, their
grandmother at 14 years and Great Grandma (Twin Fir Precious) will be
having her 16th calf this May 2016.
I Would be very disappointed if they only stayed in my herd till 6 Yrs old.
The Same type of results occured for the rest of the tests, Because I had
them Ultra Sounded I new for a fact what the Rib-eyes were (good size)
not what the guess was.
I use to believe in the Gene Testing, not anymore.
Testing the Genes give
you an idea what your
